Programme Description
The envisaged Champions programme will be implemented combining the learning from Life Centre Programme (a Youth Development Programme targeting school drop-outs and at-risk young adults (16-23 years old) and the BEST programme. • School Champion’s Club Peer Support Development Link to Other Schools 1. Focus 1 – building confidence in potential leaders to support weaker students. 2. Focus 2 – On school interventions for at – risk children. 3. Focus 3 – Classroom thematic sessions for Promotive factors: Resilience, Social Connectedness, Accessing Concrete Support, Social and Emotional Competence & Adolescent Development. • Youth Development 16 Week Life-Skills Development Drop-out Reintegration 1. Catch-net for children who are not attending school aimed at reintegration into formal schooling. 2. Recruited from community, funky youth-related activities to create a new life-map and action set for implementation of the plan 3. Resource support to enable return-toiletries, clothing, books, etc. 4. Integrate with Family Support and Community Development elements. • Community Awareness Campaigns Promotive Factors Workshops 1. Monthly awareness campaigns are run with other stakeholders to increase awareness of benefits of continued education. This includes Career Info Days, etc. 2. Parental Workshops in partnership with Family Centre to strengthen Protective and Promotive Factors.
