Programme Description
Once students matriculate, they proceed to Phase 2, an experiential year working on site to decide their course of study and enjoy practical exposure to the built environment. In this year, they receive a general workers salary from our partner company and continue to attend Maths and Science tuition and Leadership Development classes with Go for Gold throughout their Phase 2 year.
Go for Gold provides bridging classes in Maths and Science to better prepare the beneficiaries for their tertiary-level Maths and Science subjects. Tuition imperatives are provided by our tertiary tutors as the substantial gap between school-level Maths and Science and tertiary-level Maths and Science subjects are quite evident by deplorable national standard of first year engineering students, for example. The Leadership Development training we provide allows beneficiaries an easier transition into the world of work, giving them the necessary soft skills to fully integrate and become an asset to the company. Because Go for Gold also work with each partner company’s HR department, we host an HR Forum meeting every quarter which enables Go for Gold to ensure our programme and Leadership Development training stays on par with industry needs. Phase 2 is also a beneficial year to our partner companies in that they are able to allocate bursaries to youth they have already worked with, aware that Go for Gold is preparing them academically for their tertiary studies too.
