Programme Description
The afterschool programme to provide a holistic community care through psychosocial support for children and their families, home visits for vulnerable family, provide nutritional support for children, provide a safe environment and promote success in school, improve the enabling environment in the afterschool space.
The programme offers services to children from the age of 6-15 years, who are affected and infected, especially Orphan and Vulnerable children through HIV&AIDS. As well as neglected child from nearby local schools around Nyanga. The afterschool programme meets Monday to Friday between 14h00 to 15h30. The Programme has an intake of 40 children a year that are referred by the schools we work with and the social worker at Etafeni.
The Programme offers Grief& loss Counselling once a week, including parents or caregivers of the OVC. Provide Homework support for Life skill, Technology, Literacy, Numeracy reading club. The programme also engages the OVC’s in sport and drama as extra mural activities; and they also run a school holiday programme for the learners to keep busy and engage in educational activities during the holidays.
