Every year, Oasis – Reach for your Dreams is the organisation in South Africa that is responsible for the selection process of the South African Team who will represent the country at the annual Homeless World Cup and to play in the street soccer tournament. Every year this tournament brings together players from across the globe to play street soccer and in the process creating hope for these individuals who have either fallen into anti- social activities, are homeless, are marginalised or come from an informal settlement. Through our weekly 20/20 Street Soccer program, the players are selected to attend trials for an opportunity to represent your country and to travel to the tournament. 20/20 targets out of school youth, unemployed youth by teaching basic life skills to increase their employability and work with them to create life changing opportunities. This project enables youth from previously disadvantaged areas the opportunity to experience a life changing event, with the vision of creating role models for further generations to come. In 2015 The South African team finished a credible fifth out of 64 countries participating.
